Bye, Now

We set out on a journey

Life’s teaching, our learning

Unbeknownst to us

Our paths were diverging

Half our trek was together

The other half, separated

So difficult to guess

The destination that was fated

As much as we conversated,

Could have never speculated

The dissimilitude of our futures

That awaited

We stated

We would never part

How grossly overstated

Mistook resistance for persistence

And we underestimated

That those paths that we are taking

Would meet dead in the center

Only difference is, you’re losing

It turns out, I’m the winner

Like a race

Ready, set, go

We’re off, but in reverse

You went to, I went fro

Now I’m better

And you’re worse

What a curse..

Yeah, for a hot minute

I thought that, at first

But this road I walk without you..

Seems it no longer

Hurts

Love used to haunt my

Every dream

My boat rowed harshly

Down the stream

Nowadays, I’m rowing gently

Recaptured my self-esteem

And you..

Well, you’re a shadow

Of the man I loved before

Couldn’t want you if I tried now..

I ain’t trying anymore

Such a shell of who you once were

No more diamond left

Just rough

If I see you at my door again

Begging to come in..

Tough.
