Bye, Boo

You: “Hey there, Boo, what’s your name?

Can I get a number for you?

The way you working that lil’ outfit...

Making me hunger for you.

You got a man? No wait, don’t answer…

I don’t care about him…

Cuz once you see the way I get down,

You’ll forget about him.”

Me: “Let me tell you where you went wrong..

Damn, let’s see, where I start?

You came off way too strongly

And that alone ain’t very smart..

You asked me for my name; but seems

You made one up for me
Your reference to my body

Won’t interest me; but bore me

Not only that, you’re disrespectful..

Of both me and my man..

If you were him, how would you feel

About the comments at hand?

The worst is, there’s no mystery

No intrigue at all..

I know exactly what you want me for

You didn’t bother to stall

With your approach, there’s no conundrum

You’re straightforward, it’s true;

But imagine with me for a moment

That I’m your friend, and not your ‘Boo..’

We trade insider secrets

On the battle of the sexes,

Got hilarious inside jokes

For each one of all our exes,

You get to know my family

And they love you like their own

We hang out pretty often

When we’re not texting on the phone

You cook for me; I read to you

When days are bad for each,

Open each other’s mind to things…

We’re learning as we teach

I seek your insight first

Before I read others my rhymes

As days go by, we’re closer

Comforted through all bad times

Eventually, we get there

To that place of no return

No other place to go, but up

Our hearts begin to yearn

It’s love we’ve felt the whole time

It grew along with us

That long awaited conversation that

We’ve needed to discuss…

We’ve discovered that we’re soul mates

Only cuz we gave it time

May not have ever known it

And that would have been a crime

So.. tell me… what you really want?

To hit and call it quits?

Or, to build suspenseful climax

To a sweet and blissful kiss?

Wait.. Don’t answer that..

I think I know…

Impatient as you seem;

How about you just forget me?

Perhaps you’ll see me in a dream."
